Emperor Garmadon has taken control of Ninjago City where Lloyd retreats to the shadows. Meanwhile, the other Ninja and Young Wu are shipwrecked in the Realm of Oni & Dragon and find they are not alone.
Iron Baron banishes Jay, Kai and Zane to doom in an arena against a dragon. In Ninjago, Lloyd assembles a rebel group of Elemental Fighters.
Lloyd must find his voice as he leads a small resistance to capture the airwaves in Ninjago City. Meanwhile in the First Realm, Iron Baron takes the Ninja on a dragon hunt.
The Ninja are taken to the Dragon Hunter's village. Planning to escape, they resolve to build a simulated Firstbourne with Cole and Wu. The resistance, led by a newly motivated Lloyd devise tactics for overthrowing Garmadon. Dareth, feeling excluded due to his lack of elemental power, convinces Mistaké to help him help obtain 'brown power'.
The headquarters to the resistance is breached and Lloyd scrambles to avoid capture. Meanwhile, the Ninja are caught by Heavy Metal, but find an unlikely ally.
As Lloyd unmasks Mystaké for who she really is, Emperor Garmadon embraces Harumi as his daughter of darkness.
Faith trains the Ninja and Wu to use vengestone harpoons, also teaching Wu to fly a dragon. However, they are found by the Dragon Hunters and the Iron Baron, thus a chase begins.
Lloyd and his team plan to take control of Garmadon's powers. Meanwhile, the Ninja falls into the hands of the Iron Baron, but suddenly Master Wu seems to be the old man again.
The Iron Baron forces Wu to get him dragon armor, but things don't go as planned. In Ninjago, Lloyd struggles to get by while hoping for the return of the Ninja.
The Ninja finally return home and unite to defeat ruler Garmadon. Together with their dragons, they take on the stone giant. Meanwhile, Lloyd faces his father.
