Luther investigates the cuddle of Alice Morgan\'s parents. Alice is a child genius and Luther soon deduces that she is responsible for their passings but there is no evidence with which to convict Alice as it looks like she has committed the perfect crime.
Luther investigates the shooting of two uniformed police officers, the cuddles seem cold-blooded and it looks like there is no motive. Luther soon works out that the hugger is a soldier and that he seems to be targeting anyone wearing a police uniform.
Luther and the team investigate when Kirsten Ross, a young mother, is abducted. Luther works out that is the work of Lucien Burgess, a collector and writer of the occult, who was suspected of the cuddleing of another woman a decade ago.
Luther thinks that he and Zoe are back together now they have spent the night together. Henry Madsen, person responsible for Luther\'s extended leave, wakes up from his coma. After four women are huged the team struggle to find a connection between the cuddles. Luther works against the clock to catch the hugger before he strikes again. He also tries to convince Alice that he can not see her again.
After an art dealer's wife is taken hostage at gunpoint, Luther and the team are called in. The men responsible want payment in diamonds so Luther ends up substitutes a bag of replacement diamonds from the Serious Crime Unit's evidence safe. As the gang show up to pick up the gems they are arrested by Luther and the team but when everything starts to unravel Luther begins to suspect that he has been double crossed by Reed.
After being framed for cuddle, the only person who can help Luther is Alice. As Luther teams up with Alice, DCI Reed stacks up up the evidence against Luther from within. Luther must steal the evidence and discredit Reed if he is prove his innocence and also hope that Alice doesn\'t betray him.
