The Feds are still trying to get their RICO case against Tony, but have trouble since Pussy is sleeping with the fishes. Therefore, they get a bug for the Sopranos basement. Meanwhile, Patsy Parisi, twin brother of the deceased Philly Parisi, possibly knows how his brother died.
Racial tensions flair and Tony suffers another panic attack when he meets Meadow's new boyfriend from college. The FBI finds a new member of the Soprano crew to use as a rat, while another Soprano soldier resorts to violence over garbage routes. Livia's sudden passing puts an end to Tony's worries about her testimony against him. Janice returns to participate in her funeral, but all does not go smoothly when the guests start airing their true feelings about Tony's departed mother.
Christopher discovers that being made is not what he thought it would be like. Janice moves into her mother's house as she tries to get her mother's prized record collection from Svetlana. Dr. Melfi tries to find out why meat causes Tony to have his panic attacks. Meadow is upset about Tony's little talk with her boyfriend, Noah. Meanwhile, AJ discovers a hidden talent.
Ralphie introduces Jackie Jr. to the muscle end of his business, which doesn't go over well with Tony. Janice gets in over her head with the Russians when she won't back down in her feud with Svetlana. After a session with Tony, Melfi is brutally raped in the parking garage of her building. She struggles with the idea of using Tony as a weapon against her attacker.
Bobby 'Bacala' Baccilieri, Sr. comes out of retirement which makes Tony and Junior none too pleased. Adriana leaves her job at Nuovo Vesuvio after Christopher persuades her. Carmela decides to accompany Tony to a therapy session. Tony turns to a Newark assemblymant to 'fix' a speeding ticket. Meadow accidentally ruins the FBI's wiretap in her basement.
Ralphie gets unhappy with a Bing dancer when his temper gets the better of him. He and Tony come to blows over it in the parking lot. Meadow and Noah take their relationship to a new level, but things don't stay romantic for long as Meadow's roommate causes problems.
Junior has some interesting dreams while undergoing stomach cancer surgery. Tony becomes enraged at Junior's doctor's attitude. Tony and Christopher continue their fighting. Carmela decides to attend Tony's therapy session when she discovers that Tony has been skipping them and soon Dr. Melfi refers her to another therapist for her own depression.
At Thanksgiving, Tony and Ralphie's feud begins to escalate after Ralphie is denied a promotion. Meadow begins to get closer to Jackie Aprile, Jr. Tony meets a woman while waiting for one of his sessions with Dr. Melfi, and soon begins to pursue a relationship with her.
Carmela is worried about Meadow's and Jackie's blossoming relationship, but Tony and Rosalie Aprile are fine with it. However, Carmela should be concerned about Tony's new relationship with Gloria Trillo. AJ and his friends broke into his high school and now must face the consequences. Meanwhile Christopher buys Adriana a nightclub.
The holidays are rapidly approaching, but Tony isn't feeling the Christmas spirit as he and Furio plan a retaliation against the Russian who beat up Janice. Meanwhile, as Tony, Sylvio and Paulie search for a new neighborhood Santa Claus, memories of Big Pussy haunt them. Lastly, Tony beats Jackie when he finds out that he cheated on Meadow.
While on a collection errand, Paulie and Christopher find themselves thrust into a deadly chase with a Russian in the frigid woods of South Jersey. Tony is caught between business, family obligations and Gloria's temper when he must deal with the crisis. Meadow's relationship with Jackie takes a bad turn when she discovers him with another girl.
Tony must lay down the law with a distraught Gloria when she threatens to expose their affair to his family. Jackie seeks some advice from Ralphie and decides to pull a daring heist to prove himself, but his plans go horribly wrong when blood is spilled. Carmela takes an emotional dive and suddenly becomes interested in real estate.
After A.J. is expelled from school, Tony and Carmela fight over whether or not to send to him to military school. Meanwhile, Meadow thinks about her place as a Soprano and Ralphie makes a decision about Jackie.
