Angel moves to LA, where he meets up with Cordelia, another Sunnydale transplant who comes to work for him, and Doyle, a half-demon who gets visions of people in trouble. Together they try to save a woman who lives in fear of a powerful vampire.
Angel, with the aid of a new friend, tracks a serial hugger whose hunting ground is LA's single bars. Also, Doyle tries to win the affections of Cordelia.
Spike follows Oz to LA, and enlists the help of a demented Vampire to regain the Gem of Amara, a ring that gives the Vampire who wears it great powers of survival. The only problem for Spike is that Angel has the ring.
