Gemma's life involves ferrying her twin daughters around and dealing with her ex, Jason, and his Swedish girlfriend. So when handsome dad Tom asks her out and her son returns from travelling with friend Billy, Gemma unexpectedly finds she has more than one love interest.

Flustered by what happened from the night before, Gemma is baking cakes for the twins' school function. She attempts to convince Billy that there's nothing romantic between them. Gemma, Alfie and Billy show up at the school totally unaware of the chemistry between his best friend and his mother. Tom unwittingly shares his feelings for Gemma with Billy. Gemma's efforts to focus on her new romance with Tom are end up being questioned after she overhears Billy helping daughter Jess out.

After forcing Jason to give Alfie a job on the sandwich run, Gemma finds herself at a self-defence class run by Tom. When an inflamed Jason gate-crashes the class he is attacked from all sides, and Billy must decide if he can carry on living under Gemma's roof.

After breaking up with Inca, Jason has taken up residence on Gemma's sofa. Gemma hosts a barbecue at the house to try and get the estranged couple back together and Jason out of her house. Billy has managed to get himself a job as a chef, and moves out of Tom's house. Gemma receives two tempting offers from Tom and Billy.
