Molly is really happy after she is sent to Afghanistan on one of the army's final deployments. She soon finds out though that she needs to prove herself to her new platoon. She also needs to deal with Smurf, a former boyfriend who is part of the regiment and who is making her life much harder than it needs to be.
Molly's friendship with little Afghan girl Bashira grows, they are totally soul sisters! But this new-found emotional bond takes a more serious turn when Bashira warns Molly about an impending attack. Should Molly trust the child? Is she all she seems? Meanwhile Molly's brilliance at her job begins to attract the attention of Captain James, who might be harbouring an attraction to her. What Molly can't quite figure out is - does he fancy her too?
Molly and Smurf return home, but struggle to fit back into the normal world. They both worry about their platoon after leaving them in a particularly threatening situation. They soon grow closer, but their relationship changes when Smurf makes a surprising declaration.
As the platoon prepares to withdraw from Afghanistan, emotions are running high. Both Captain James and Smurf declare their love for Molly, as all of a sudden they find themselves in a love triangle. Molly finds trouble one last time, as she becomes entangled in a raid against the Taliban. The platoon are sent on a final mission.
Returning back home from her stint in Afghanistan, Molly has to try and answer some difficult questions.
