When Rab returns home he finds out that Mary has kidnapped the government minister for work as revenge for losing her job. The couple have no idea what to do next when and after a full-scale siege develops, they are believed to be terrorists.
After the bottom falls out of the cleaning business, Mary and Ella decide to put their singing talents to good use by creating a girl band. They enter Govan's Got Talent and become determined to win. Rab and Jamesie set themselves up as 'Hunks for Hire'.
Jamesie finds his philandering ways catching up with him after he finds out that he is about to become a father. Aftter he comes clean to Ella, she performs a spot of amateur surgery on him. Rab ends up in the next hospital bed to his friend after he is involved in an accident involving a cake knife at Peaches' birthday party.
The drop-in centre ends up becoming a council cut, so Rab decides to try and fight back.
Peaches decides to choose Rab as her role model for a school project. After he recognises her teacher as a fellow member of his self-help group, he wonders how he can live up to her expectations. Jamesie hits his 60th birthday and decides to start a new business venture.
The new local church minister ends up being full of surprises, not only is she a woman, but she is also English. Rab's battle with alcohol ends up bringing him into conflict with the clergywoman.
Rab is forced to turn to crime to try and help make ends meet and decides to restyle himself as a new breed of heroic outlaw, which results in him hiding out in a local park.
