We are introduced to a group of teachers and staff at an elementary school and learn what really happens when the students go home.
Miracle decides to celebrate spring by distributing flowers to the staff, but fails to realize that she is actually giving out hemlock, which ultimately puts Andrew in a coma. This, along with Larry's pragmatism, causes Miracle to lose her spirituality, but Larry ends up trying to get her to regain her faith nonetheless. Meanwhile, the school's fundraiser is put in danger due to Helen's grudge against Sue.
When Knob Haven High has an opportunity to be named a "Distinguished School," Larry offers to give a speech to the school board but is substituted after a viral video of Ennis surfaces. Meanwhile, Willard decides to teach Driver's Ed in order to prevail over his fear of driving.
In an effort to impress the PTA, the faculty and staff of Knob Haven High School throw a party at Huey Lewis' house. Things start to become like the movies of the 1980's, especially after Willard travels through time in a DeLorean.
Stuart tries to increase circulation at the school paper by printing salacious stories. Meanwhile, Sue hits Ennis with her car, putting him through the windshield and leaving him there because of lack of insurance. Miracle has to go back to school when it turns out she never graduated high school.
Ennis offers relationship advice to the staff; Larry objects to the advice and meets a woman anyway, who happens to be an acquaintance from Hofftard's past. Meanwhile Miracle comes clean with Sezno about a deadly secret.
The weather becomes nasty in Knob Haven and the school gymnasium is turned into a hurricane shelter. Things turn more chaotic though with Willard in charge of the shelter.
During a field trip to Washington D.C. Principal Sezno ditches the group to testify in the Senate that Knob Haven is the worst school in the country. While the rest of the staff attempts to stop Sue, Ennis goes on a personal quest to prove his bravery.
Larry tries to rid the school of all the junk food and get his students in shape when he hears that the Deep South Council of Physical Fitness is going to pay a visit to Knob Haven. Willard offers to take the junk food, eats all of it and subsequently has a heart attack; while unconscious he goes on a wild journey.
Larry plans the school's High School's reunion for people that used to go to the school while, Andrew plots revenge against his rival Jose Canseco. So, Larry decides to seek a lost love and Ennis believes Happy is planning yet another terrorist attack.
Stuart mistakes his role in the school's anti-drug campaign and accidentally builds a meth lab. Meanwhile, Larry takes umbrage with Knob Haven's affiliation with a pharmaceutical company.
Ennis proctors the standardized tests for the gifted students and mistakenly convinces Happy to dump a truckload of kids into the harbor, forcing Larry to come to the rescue. Meanwhile, Willard tries to protect Stuart from a scam.
Sue delivers an ultimatum to Andrew regarding the future of the drama department and he responds by writing a school play with Miracle in the lead, leaving Helen jealous. Meanwhile, Sue discovers that alcohol influences Ennis' intelligence in a positive way.
