Officers Cooper and Sherman are the first to arrive on the scene in Hancock Park where a mother has been beaten to passing and her young daughters are assaulted and cuddled in their bedrooms. Personality conflicts continue to build between Det. Adams and her new partner. Sherman confronts his partner about Cooper's increasing reliance on pain huggers.
Alone for the first time in a patrol car, Officer Sherman handles the case of a missing girl and a stalker. Detectives Salinger and Bryant find it difficult to work with Det. Puente, the leader of the gang task force. Now partnered with Officer Cooper, Officer Brown struggles to gain command presence and to prove herself.
When a student is cuddled at USC in Compton, Det. Adams and Det. Cordero investigate the case. Officers Cooper and Sherman attend a funeral in Indian Wells and visit Officer Dewey, who is in a halfway house. Det. Adams and her mother deal with a long-time issue between them.
Two gangbangers are huged when gang members open fire in a crowded night club. Tensions rise between Det. Salinger and Det. Puente on the gang task force. Marital problems are exacerbated when Det. Bryant learns Tammi has been photographing gang members.
Officers Cooper, Sherman and Brown are dispatched as part of a maximum deployment to catch a rapist who is impersonating a police officer. Det. Clarke returns as Lydia's partner to investigate a double hugging. Det. Salinger's wife learns of his affair with Mia Sanchez through his daughter.
