Stardate 46379.1: Just over two years ago, the Borg took Captain Jean-Luc Picard from the U.S.S. Enterprise and made him one of their own. Unable to stop what was to come, Picard watched helplessly as 39 ships and almost 11,000 lives were lost at the Battle of Wolf 359. One of the destroyed ships, the U.S.S. Saratoga, carried Lieutenant-Commander Benjamin Sisko. Over two years later, with the commencement of peace talks between the Cardassians and the Federation, the Cardassians have ended their occupation of the planet Bajor, leaving behind a space station. The Federation, acting as administrators until the Bajorans are able to govern themselves, sets up command at the station, dubbed Deep Space Nine, with Commander Benjamin Sisko put in charge of the station's operations.
Stardate 46392.7: Just after the U.S.S. Enterprise leaves Deep Space Nine, a Cardassian ship commanded by Gul Dukat, the former prefect of Bajor, arrives. In so many words, the Gul makes it known that he would like to see the orb that Sisko had been shown by Kai Opaka. Sisko balks for the moment, which gives him some time to meet with Lieutenant Dax and find out that the Denorios Belt, a plasma center in space, may lead to the answers they are looking for about the Tears of the Prophets.
Stardate Unknown: A Bajoran vessel, under attack from a Cardassian warship, sends out a distress call to Deep Space Nine. The station's crew is able to beam the lone Bajoran aboard. Major Kira recognizes the man as an old friend named Tahna, who is a member of the Kohn-Ma, the Bajoran resistance. He requests political asylum, and Commander Sisko allows both the Bajoran and the Cardassians aboard the warship to stay on DS9 while he considers his decision on the Bajoran's request. Meanwhile, Doctor Julian Bashir becomes acquainted with the DS9 clothier Garak, the sole permanent Cardassian resident on the station, and Odo has his hands full with the Duras sisters.
Stardate 46421.5: A Bajoran who had crossed paths with Odo during the Cardassian Occupation has arrived on Deep Space Nine. Odo gives the man a day to vacate the station, but a while later the man is found dead. The only known enemy that the man has on the station is the Constable. Meanwhile, Keiko O'Brien plans a school for the children aboard DS9, but has trouble finding parents willing to allow their children to attend her classes.
Stardate 46423.7: An overworked Chief O'Brien, busy with multiple repair assignments around Deep Space Nine, succumbs to a form of aphasia that renders his speech pattern incomprehensible to those around him. Unfortunately, it isn't long before others start to suffer from the same form of aphasia.
Stardate Unknown: A damaged ship exits the wormhole near Deep Space Nine and the Federation receives their first visitor from the Gamma Quadrant. Since O'Brien guided the visitor to one of the station's ports safely, Commander Sisko allows the Chief the luxury of first contact with the species. While the humanoid, referring to itself only as Tosk, takes in the sights and sounds of the station, Chief O'Brien, acting as his guide, tells him a bit about life in the Alpha Quadrant as he tries to find out more about the visitor.
Stardate 46531.2: Upon returning from the Gamma Quadrant, the Ganges, with Dax and a subordinate on board, suffers total power failure. The Runabout makes it to one of the docking ports, and Commander Sisko and Major Kira try to open it to no avail. Before Chief O'Brien supplies an external power coupling to the Runabout, Dr. Bashir's tricorder identifies an extra passenger aboard the Ganges. Once the door is open, the crew finds that the passenger is Vash, the close friend of Enterprise Captain Jean-Luc Picard, who had not been seen since she went on a tour of the Universe with Q.
Stardate 46910.1: As Dax walk back to her quarters for the evening, two men and a woman take her hostage. Dr. Bashir relays her situation to Ops, but the kidnappers are a few steps ahead. They're able to disable all of DS9's security devices and escape in their ship. Commander Sisko brings the tractor beam back online and lock onto the kidnapper's ship before it escaped the beam's range. Bringing the three back onto the ship, Commander Sisko is handed a warrant by one of the abductors containing cuddle and treason charges against Lieutenant Dax.
The DS9 Runabout Rio Grande, with Major Kira and Dr. Bashir onboard, responds to a distress call from a Kobliad ship. The Major and Doctor are able to save one of the three passengers. The surviving Kobliad, a security officer, requests that the body of one of the dead be thoroughly examined to verify beyond a reasonable doubt that the man, Vantika, is indeed dead. Vantika had been headed to DS9 to intercept a shipment of deuridium arriving at the station from the Gamma Quadrant before he had been captured by Kobliad security.
The first contingent of a new race from the Gamma Quadrant makes its way to Deep Space Nine. Unfortunately, the new species, the Wadi, do not seem at all interested in diplomatic relations; they only want to play games... and they've heard about Quark's.
Jake's friendship with Nog comes to a crossroads when Nog asks Jake to lie for him. Chief O'Brien, subbing for his wife in her classroom, was the one who was lied to, and he suggests to Commander Sisko that it may be best for Jake and Nog to sever their friendship. Meanwhile, Quark is visited by the Grand Nagus, the most powerful of all Ferengi, and he's worried that the Nagus has come to buy his bar.
A business deal between Quark and two twins from the race known as the Miradorn turns into cuddle when a man, Crodon from the planet Rakhar in the Gamma Quadrant, hugs one of the Miradorn in an attempt to steal the item that was being transacted. The surviving Miradorn swears revenge on the Rakharan, who is placed into Odo's custody. When trying to keep Crodon safe, Odo learns something from the Rakharan that is very valuable to him.
Bajoran religious leader Kai Opaka makes a surprise visit to Deep Space Nine. While touring the station, she makes it known that she wishes to go through the wormhole to the Gamma Quadrant. Acting as guides, Commander Sisko, Major Kira, and Dr. Bashir accompany her. In the Gamma Quadrant, a subspace message is received from a moon of a planet. Venturing closer, the Runabout Yangtzee Kiang's sensors reveal artificial satellites surrounding the moon. One of the satellites attacks the Runabout, resulting in the vessel crashing on the moon's surface and hugging the Kai. As the rest of the crew exit the downed craft, a group of mercenaries "welcomes" them to the moon.
Stardate 46729.1: Commander Sisko has been asked to mediate a dispute between two Bajoran clans over the division of their territories. The leader of one of the tribes is a young girl, who Nog is enchanted by. Meanwhile, Dr. Bashir and Chief O'Brien shuttle down to Bajor to help with a grave situation that could spell doom for a village.
Stardate 46844.3: The Bajoran Provisional Government, in order to give the planet a new source of power, prepares to transfer energy from the core of their fifth moon, Jeraddo. All the inhabitants of the moon have been removed, but a later inspection of the moon by Major Kira and Lieutenant Dax reveals that not everyone was evacuated. Kira beams down and finds three holdouts who, despite the fact that all life on the moon's surface will die when the energy is transferred to Bajor, refuse to leave.
Stardate 46853.2: An unusual energy reading leads to the Deep Space Nine crew voicing concerns about energy emissions from ships using the area. Soon, the energy reading forms into a growing anomaly that threatens the station. As the energy continues to grow in scope, the imaginations from those onboard began to create real facsimiles of their dreams.
Stardate 46925.1: Four ambassadors from the Federation have arrived at Deep Space Nine to learn more about the wormhole, and Commander Sisko puts Doctor Bashir in charge of tending to the ambassadors' every need. Meanwhile, an unidentified probe has come through the wormhole. Sisko brings the probe in a bit closer so that station crew can study it.
Stardate 46922.3: A Valerian transport will soon be docking at Deep Space Nine, much to the chagrin of Major Kira, who knows that the Valerians had once been a supplier of chemical weapons to the Cardassians during the Occupation of Bajor. Before the ship enters the sector, however, the Klingon vessel Toh'Kaht, on a bio-survey of the Gamma Quadrant, returns early through the wormhole and promptly explodes before the DS9 crew's eyes. One of the Klingons had been able to beam aboard the station while the Toh'Kaht exploded. Just before he succumbed to phaser blast injuries, he speaks the word, "Victory".
A passenger aboard an arriving freighter who is suffering from Kalla-Nohra, a sickness that could only be contracted at the Gallitep forced labor camp on Bajor when a large mining accident occurred, is beamed to Deep Space Nine's sickbay. Major Kira goes down to meet the survivor of the camps... only to find that the person suffering from the sickness is a Cardassian.
One of the Bajoran religious leaders, called Vedeks, takes a glance at Keiko O'Brien's class, and is disturbed by the soulless instruction given by Mrs. O'Brien about the wormhole. The blasphemy heard by the Orthodox Bajoran's ears begins a chain of events that may destroy all that the Federation and Bajorans have worked together to achieve.
