When a container of illegal weapons is broken into, Josh and Dom race to save the life of a security guard, who has a bomb strapped to her body, and attempt to find the men responsible. Lawson, Michael and Shannon deal with a disgruntled worker, who is holding his boss against his will.
When a group of students are lured into being drug traffickers, TR races to stop them. In his desperate attempt to save the kids, Lawson is told by Kerry that in doing so, he risks compromising a federal investigation. Leon's girlfriend Nina has to be rescued by Josh, when she falls off a tall building whilst trying to impress Leon via a web cam. Meanwhile Kerry is having trouble coming to terms with her impending divorce.
When TR is called to a domestic dispute, Lawson relates to a young boy whose father is an alcoholic, bringing back some childhood memories. When Michael rescues a woman trapped in her car underwater and subsequently becomes a hero, he soon discovers that she did not want to be rescued. Shannon deals with and seems to connect to a local prostitute, who is being beaten up by one of her clients.
When a family court judge is taken hostage by a disgruntled father, with a vendetta against the judge, TR tries desperately for a peaceful resolution. As the situation escalates, Shannon is in a race to negotiate with him before Josh is forced to shoot. After a little girl is found abandoned and wandering along train tracks, TR find out her father has just cuddled someone. Lawson's attempts to find the man are hampered by journalist Jacinta Burns.
During a routine cell extraction, Dom and Stella are caught up in a prison siege when inmates take several guards hostage. Shannon negotiates with the ringleader, but ends up admitting that Dom and Stella are inside. When the situation escalates as a result of the inmates knowing that police are inside, Lawson sends in Josh and the riot police. Kerry has to deal with an accident in which she hit a cyclist, and is horrified when the man dies.
Shannon, Josh and Michael attend to a man, Gaz Walton, who is drunk and causes a disturbance on Immigration Bridge. Shannon tries to negotiate with him, to no avail. As TR start to unfold why Gaz was there that day, they discover a link to a number of TAB robberies. Struggling to cope with the recent car accident, Kerry takes Leon out to a nightclub, gets drunk and ends up getting a tattoo.
Josh, Shannon and Dom are called in when it is found that a group of teenagers have taped a bomb to a parking meter on the top level of a car park. Lawson, Stella and Michael attend to a protest, and during so, Michael is unable to control his temper, much to Lawson's dismay. Kerry contacts Boyd Kemper, while on 'holiday' in a Melbourne hotel, wanting to talk to him and it doesn't end up going too well.
TR is called to a domestic siege on the outskirts of Melbourne where they journey into dense bush to save a young boy. They soon realise however, that the boy doesn't need saving. When Josh is shot, Lawson faces a dilemma in how to get the boy under control. Kerry receives the brief for the coronial inquest of causing a cyclist's passing.
Stella becomes involved in an illegal car race with her girlfriend. After getting arrested, Kerry then gives her to the end of the day to find the man responsible for the races or else she is out of TR. When a man wielding a knife holds up a strip club, looking for his daughter who works there, Dom comes up with a solution to the problem. Kerry faces the inquest into the passing of a cyclist she accidentally hit. At the end of the day, Boyd visits her at home with a bottle of alcohol, and a rather interesting end result.
Lawson, Michael and Shannon respond to a suspicious car that appears to be following an armoured van. As Lawson talks to the man, Michael's suspicions about some roadworkers get the better of him and he violates standard operating procedure by taking on a group of robbers single-handedly. When the men find out that Michael is there, his life hangs in the balance.
When John Welsh, an ex-SAS soldier robs a petrol station, TR join with a major crime squad to help bring him down. A drug-related story Jacinta is investigating ends up putting her life at risk. Lawson tries to protect her, but finds she is quite unwilling to accept his help.
The grandson of a well known Melbourne criminal figure is abducted and TR races to find he and the kidnappers before anyone else does. Stella, Josh and Michael are called to negotiate when a man threatens to jump of a building because his girlfriend is missing.
Shannon gets angry with a taxi driver for not knowing where to go. He starts to attack her for not paying the fare but she fights back, leaving him injured. TR links the incident to a spate of attacks against female passengers. Josh struggles to contain his anger as they search for the driver. Michael, Josh and Shannon respond to a disturbance at a swinger's party only to discover the gatecrasher is a disabled woman. Lawson breaks up with Jacinta, leaving her with no real explanation as to why he is breaking up with her.
When TR extracts an undercover operative from a drug syndicate gone wrong, Lawson and Shannon find out that she is pregnant to a known criminal. But when she escapes, they have to race to track her down before her boyfriend discovers she is a cop.
Lawson, Stella and Shannon have to think quickly to save the lives of college students, when two teenagers go on a rampage at a university campus. At the location of an armed robbery, Dom and Michael find that the robber has been attacked by the security dog and is missing an ear. Meanwhile, on suspension, Josh visits a psychologist to deal with his problems.
When TR take a man out of witness protection against his will, he reacts by shooting at them and locking himself in a house. Stella does the main negotiating with him, but makes some personal mistakes and as a result, her girlfriend Alana is taken hostage. Josh and Shannon go on surveillance to try and catch two hapless crooks before they rob someone. Meanwhile, a woman goes into labour by the road side and Michael delivers the baby.
Michael and Josh clash with each other when they deal with a delusional man who thinks he is a cop. TR1 races to stop a woman cuddleing her husband. Meanwhile, Lawson and Jacinta renegotiate their relationship when Jacinta spends a day travelling with them for a story on Tactical Response that she is working on.
Lawson and Josh come to blows when Lawson starts to see that Josh is continually bringing his personal life into his work life. Lawson, Stella and Michael try to locate an elderly couple, who, after they were spotted dealing drugs, have left suicide notes for their children.
As Lawson tries to save Caleb from a life of crime, he discovers that it's already too late and that Caleb never wanted to be apart of their 'side'. Dom's wife Sandrine finally gets help from the depression she's been battling, after their baby G goes missing while in her care. Meanwhile Chanel calls Dom when a bouncer at Goldfingers threatens the manager after he is not allowed to dance during business hours.
The team discuss what to get Kerry for her birthday and it leads to a bet on who will have sex with her. Leon, trying to get on the list of people who will get with Kerry, investigates a series of video store robberies but gets caught in a robbery himself. TR escorts a visiting Israeli minister, which tests the fitness of Shannon, Stella and Michael. Lawson and Josh chase a group of criminals through the MCG during a Hawthorn and Essendon AFL game.
The team assists in the removal of underage girls from a community, where they find out that they have been sexually abused. The situation turns serious when Ted, a member of the community, hijacks a bus and demands the girls be released. When the hijack escalates, Lawson is forced into action with devastating consequences for the team when it is revealed one of them is responsible for the shooting of an innocent man.
Stella and Lawson clash as the team continue to wait for the ballistic report. Meanwhile, Melbourne's water supply turned off after it is contaminated by a woman who believes that fluoride in the water has huged her husband. Michael's faith is tested when he loses a large sum of money while swimming with two underage girls.
