The show returns for it's fourth series with Dermot O'Leary as the new host. Hopefuls audition for the judges hoping to impress and make it through to the next stage of the competition. Simon decides that new judge Brian isn't working out on the show and decides to ask Louis Walsh to return as his replacement.
The auditions come from Birmingham and Cardiff as more hopefully try and impress the judges. Paris who at 14 last year impressed all the judges but was too young for the competition returns once again. With the competiton now open to 14 year olds and above she manages to impress again and makes it through. Others to impress include Ryan who has been serving in the British Army in Iraq.
More hopefuls good and bad try and impress the four judges in a hope of making it through to the next round of the competition. Dermot is on hand to talk to those who make it through and also to offer comfort to the less successful.

Kelly's father is upset with Simon when he refuses to put his daughter through to the next round. Natasha Benjamin manages to impress all the judges after they hear her history and they her her sing.
This week's auditions come from Sheffield, Glasgow and Birmingham as more hopefuls good and bad try to impress the judges. Kimberly manages to irritate Simon with her personality but still manages to impress the rest of the judges with her voice. Golden oldies Dorothy and Eric meet in the holding area and decide to go on a date after the auditions and both end up impressing the judges and making it through to boot camp.
The last set of hopefuls audition for the judges in the hope of making it through to the next stage of the competition.
Those how made it through the audition stage return to try and impress the judges at boot camp. The judges then decide which twelve in each category will make it through to the next stage of boot camp.
The top 12 in each of the four different categories sings once again in an attempt to try and impress the judges and make it through to the next stage of the competition. The judges have to whittle it down to just six in each category and then learn which section of the competition they will be mentoring.
The judges now in the knowledge of which section of the competition they will be mentoring have one last chance to be impressed by the remaining acts in their section of the competition.
Each of the judges faces the difficult decision of telling their remaining six acts if they have made the top three and agained a place in the live finals.
The twelve final acts perform live on stage for the first time in front of the judges. The judges give their comments on what they have heard and seen and at the end of the show the phone lines open for the first public vote of the series. Rhydian and Niki received the best comments from the judges.
Dermot returns with the results of tonight's public vote. Leona Lewis sings her new single live on stage. The two acts with the lowest amount of viewer votes have to sing again and Sharon is shocked when she learns that Alesha and Kimberley are in the bottom two. After both the girls have sang again the judges elect to save Alesha leaving Kimberley as the first act eliminated from the competition.
The remaining acts left in the competition have to sing songs from the movies this week. The judges give their comments on what they have heard before the phone lines are opened for tonight's viewer vote. As per last week both Rhydian and Niki receive outstanding comments from the judges and stand out as the night's best performers.
Celine Dion performs live on stage before Dermot reveals which two acts are in the bottom two and have to perform again in the final showdown before the judges decide who will be eliminated from the show.
The remaining acts left in the competition this week have to perform a Big Band song with a live orchestra. The judges give their verdicts on what they have heard and seen before the phone lines are opened for tonight's viewer vote. Rhydian again has a great week as does Beverly tonight.
Boys II Men perform live on stage before Dermot announces which two acts have the lowest amount of viewer votes and have to perform again in the final showdown. Simon is shocked when two of his groups Futureproof and Hope are in the bottom two. After both groups have performed again he judges decide to save Hope leaving Futureproof out of the competition.
The eight acts left in the competition return to perform live once again hoping to impress both the judges and the viewing public. This week the acts have to perform a song from the 21st century. Rhydian manages to impress all the judges. Andy receives the worst comments on the night. At the end of the show the phone lines are opened for tonight's public vote.
Dermott returns with the results from tonight's viewer votes. Shayne Ward singing his latest hit live on stage whilst the votes are counted and verified. Beverly and Andy learn that they are in the bottom two and have to perform again. The judges then elect to save Beverly leaving Andy eliminated from the competition.
The seven remaining acts left in the competition tonight have to sing a classic disco song. The judges give their verdicts after each act have performed and Beverley receives the best comments from the judges. At the end of the show the phone lines are opened for tonight's public vote.
Dermot returns with the results of tonight's viewer vote. As the votes are counted and verified Girls Aloud perform their new single live on stage. Dermot then revels that Hope and Alisha are in the bottom two and have to perform again in the final showdown. The judges then decide to save Hope leaving Alisha eliminated from the competition.
Dermot and the judges return as the last six acts left in the competition have to perform live once again. The judges give their thoughts on what they have heard before the phone lines are opened for tonight's public vote. Rydian receives the best comments from the judges but with nobody performing badly it is difficult to predict who will be going home tonight.
Dermot returns with the results of tonight's public vote. Westlife perform live on stage. Once the votes have been counted and verified Dermot announces that Beverley and Hope are the two acts with the lowest amount of votes have to perform once again in the final showdown. The judges then cant decide who should be eliminated tonight so it goes back to the viewer vote. Beverley learns that she has the lowest amount of public votes and will be going home tonight.
The last five acts in the competition return to perform live once again in front of the judges and viewing public. The judges give their views on what they have heard after each act has performed. Tonight each act has to perform twice.After each act has performed once the phone lines are opened for tonight's public vote.
Dermot returns with the results of tonight's viewer vote. Duran Duran perform live on stage. With the judges no longer choosing between the bottom two Hope learn that they have the fewest amount of viewer votes tonight and will be leaving the competition.
The last four acts left in the competition return to battle it it for a place in next week's final. The judges give their verdicts on what they have heard before the phone lines open for this week's important viewer vote.
Dermot returns with the results of tonight's viewer vote. Michael Buble performs on stage whilst the votes are counted verified. Niki then learns that she has been eliminated tonight.
The three finalists return to sing live for the last time each of them hoping to impress the judges and viewing public. After each act has performed for the first time the phone lines are opened for the public vote. The eliminated finalists return to perform live on stage together.
Kylie Minogue performs her latest single live on stage. Same Difference learn they have finished in third place before the two other finalists each perform what will be the winner's song before the phone lines are closed. Dermot then announces Leon as the series winner.
