How many episodes in 8 season: 15 episodes
Sixteen chefs compete in the premiere of the eighth season of Hell's Kitchen. Chef Ramsay divides the chefs into teams of women and men, and their first challenge is to create their signature dishes. An early injury sends one chef to the hospital. Massive delays during dinner service lead customers to exit Hell's Kitchen.
The remaining fifteen chefs face added pressure following the first elimination of the season. The chefs compete in their second dinner service.
The contestants must learn to use time wisely when Chef Ramsay challenges the red and blue teams to make a speedy and delicious breakfast for 50 hungry EMTs. Later, Ramsay teaches the contestants that preparing a simple plate of pasta isn't as easy as it seems when he asks the chefs to create a unique ravioli dish from scratch. During dinner service, both teams struggle to cook their dishes properly and on time, and one contestant especially enrages Chef Ramsay when delayed service almost sabotages a customer's marriage proposal.

Challenges facing the 11 remaining chefs include devising menus for a retro-themed high-school prom (with the losing team having to set up for the prom) and preparing entrée salads (the winner is to be featured in Bon Appetit magazine). Then, undercooking and overcooking bedevil dinner service.
With tension building between the contestants as the competition heats up, Chef Ramsay tests the chefs imagination and creativity as well as their ability to work together. In the first challenge, the teams are asked to create one cohesive dish using five randomly selected ingredients. The team that prepares the most harmonious dish will jet off to Las Vegas as a reward, while the losers will be forced to wash, peel and cut more than 1,000 potatoes. After a sloppy start, dinner service takes an unexpected turn of events. Later, Ramsay challenges the teams to shop on a budget and transform four classic ingredients into elegant dishes worthy of fine dining. Four special judges critique the teams' creations, and HELL'S KITCHEN welcome some very special guests to the show's most elegant dinner service to date.

Chef Ramsay is disappointed when his aspiring chefs praise fast food items disguised as five-star hotel food, with only one identifying the chicken wings from his own five star hotel as their favorite. He challenges the chefs to a blind taste test and another of them proves to be a standout, allowing their team to enjoy a day of shopping, followed by dining in a top restaurant. The losers are made to sort trash for recycling.
Chef Ramsay tests the chefs' teamwork by thrusting them into a challenge requiring them to cook three appetizers in thirty minutes in turns, with only 15 seconds to communicate in-between switching. The winning team is rewarded with a shopping spree at a cooking store, while the losing team is placed on delivery duty.
With only six chefs remaining in the competition, Chef Ramsay raises the stakes and asks the contestants to create a single bite that makes a bold first impression. For the amuse-bouche challenge, Chef Ramsay invites Michelin-starred chefs from some of Los Angeles' most critically acclaimed restaurants to judge the contestants, with the winner getting a taste of the sweet life at LA Market at the JW Marriott Hotel. Later, dinner service disappoints as the teams show a lack of cooperation, leaving hungry diners dissatisfied with their meals.
With only five chefs remaining, the contestants must prove that they have the passion and talent to move forward in the competition. In a challenge designed to test who has what it takes to cater to LA Market's high-profile clientele, Chef Ramsay asks the contestants to prepare and serve their signature dishes in food trucks to sell to the downtown Los Angeles lunch crowd. The chef with the most popular dish earns a Beverly Hills makeover by celebrity hairstylist Josh Eber and fashion guru Steven Cojocaru, while the rest of the contestants are forced to scrub down their food trucks and prepare HELL'S KITCHEN for dinner service. Later, a disappointing dinner service and underwhelming individual performances push Chef Ramsay to the edge.
Only four chefs remain, and the pressure is on for each contestant to prove to Chef Ramsay that he or she has the chops to move forward in the competition. In a challenge designed to test the chefs' ability to identify key ingredients and rely on their palate, Chef Ramsay asks the contestants to recreate a brilliant dish using only sight, smell and taste. The chef who most accurately replicates the dish and displays a keen ability to discern flavors earns a relaxing day at the spa. For the rest of the contestants, it's laundry day at HELL'S KITCHEN, and they are left behind to prep, iron and starch tablecloths and chef jackets for dinner service. Much to Chef Ramsay's delight, the contestants find their groove in the kitchen and host the smoothest dinner service to date. The chefs surely step up their game in the kitchen, but things heat up in a dramatic elimination round.
Emotions run high for the remaining four contestants who are more motivated and determined than ever after Chef Ramsay's sobering announcement that not one, but two chefs will be eliminated in the next round. In HELL'S KITCHEN's most sophisticated test to date, Chef Ramsay challenges the chefs to design and execute a balanced fusion dish that combines the flavors of two countries' distinct cuisines. Chef Ramsay enlists the help of three renowned executive chefs and experts in fusion cuisine: Philip Dubose of Asia de Cuba, Helene An of Crustacean and Lee Hefter of Spagoto select one winner who will earn a fine dining experience at Spago Beverly Hills while the remaining contestants are left behind at the dorms for Move-Out Day. Dinner service takes a turn for the worse when the chefs fail to see eye to eye, and Chef Ramsay is forced to intervene. Find out which two contestants let their tempers get the best of them and who is rewarded with a coveted spot in the final round of competition.
With the grand prize within reach, the final two chefs take center stage in a heated battle to prove to Chef Ramsay that they deserve a head chef position at LA Market at the JW Marriott Los Angeles at L.A. LIVE and the opportunity to be the official spokesperson for Rosemount Estate Wines.
